FERMANOX® water treatment systems all work according to the same basic principle and therefore combine the advantages of efficient and environmentally friendly operation with comparatively low costs.

However, the requirements for a water treatment system differ depending on the application and size.

Therefore, we offer a range of different basic types for different water consumption and control requirements, which are optimally designed for these applications.

Private water suppliers, medium-scale water supply facilities, big farms, irrigation & sprinkling, water for cleaning processes, swimming pools, heating & cooling for private individuals.

Flow diagram for a water supply with FERMANOX® system type WV:

FERMANOX® type WV systems work with two drilled wells, one of which is always available for extraction while the other well is being treated. Each treatment cycle therefore runs in two phases.

  1. In phase 1, for example, well 1 serves as a production well for the water supply. At the same time, a portion of the water is diverted, enriched with oxygen from the ambient air in the FERMANOX® system and returned (infiltrated) into the aquifer via well 2 without intermediate storage. The oxygen introduced is distributed in the area around the well and sets the natural self-cleaning process in motion.
  2. After the oxygen-enriched amount of water pre-programmed at meter 1 has been returned, the system switches off until the corresponding water has been withdrawn via meter 2. Only then is the water extraction switched over and the system goes back into operation.
  3. In phase 2, well 2 now pumps pure, treated water for the water supply. A portion of this water is diverted again and, after oxygen enrichment, infiltrated into well 1.

By operating two wells alternately, there is no need to temporarily store the oxygenated water, meaning that a small system can be used to achieve large quantities of treatment and pure, treated water is continuously available.

The boreholes themselves must be built with sufficient spacing so that the reaction zones that form around the boreholes do not overlap or influence each other. As part of our design, we specify the appropriate minimum spacing for each project.

In FERMANOX® type WV systems, the amount of water used and the amount returned for treatment are measured using contact water meters. The consumption-dependent control ensures that the correct ratio of extraction and oxygen enrichment is always maintained for each well. At the same time, the next enrichment only takes place after a corresponding amount of water has been used.

The current water quantities of both meters are shown on the control display. If there is a deviation from the target data, an alarm is automatically triggered and the cause of the error is shown on the control display.

Water consumption and thus always ensures that drinking water quality is achieved with the lowest energy consumption.

The consumption-dependent controlled system also monitors itself and gives an alarm if there are deviations from normal operation.

The operating data of the water treatment are logged by the control system. The last well changes and any operating errors can be tracked via the menu. Remote reading and control center connection can be carried out via BUS interfaces.

PC/remote reading and parameterization of operating data

The right ratio of extraction and enrichment is of crucial importance for the success of the process. Specifically, for each well, the return volume must be adapted to the daily water requirement and the raw water quality of the groundwater. We therefore offer three different standard sizes with different equipment under the type designation WV.

The selection of the suitable system can only be made after we have carried out an individual design. If these parameters deviate significantly from the original starting data in the future (e.g. due to an increase in water requirements), an existing system must be redesigned by the manufacturer in order to avoid the wells becoming calcified.
