Iron and manganese are commonly present in anoxic groundwater worldwide. High iron concentrations are not harmful to human and animal health, but result in technical problems: clogging of production wells, precipitation and incrustation in the water supply distribution systems and orange/brown colour of drinking water. Thus, according to the drinking water guidelines in many countries the total iron concentration should be less than 0.2 mg/L.
All of these problems can be solved with our FERMANOX® water treatment process – underground iron removal and demanganization with FERMANOX®.
The FERMANOX® process for underground, natural treatment is highly efficient for removing oxidizable substances from groundwater. FERMANOX® water treatment takes place directly in the groundwater-bearing soil layers, so that the groundwater – naturally treated – can be extracted and used immediately.
